Hi Ryan
it wasn't the archives i needed to get rid of, archives disapeared autoatically when i added the text widget. It was the categories that i didn't know how to delete.
But what i did was find the bit in the code that looked almost the same as what you wrote but with 'categories' instead of 'archives' and that seems to have done the trick.
Would it be possible to include in the next flexibility 2 theme update (flexibility 3?) some buttons to add or delete these sort of things from the 'flexibility theme options' section of WP admin? Or is that something that needs to be in the WP widgets section? It shure would make life much easier for us newbies than messing around with code…… although i have enjoyed learning from the experience!
cheers
Yuri

Most people just activate widgets if they want to remove the default content. It would be very simple to built options into the theme where you simply indicate if you want the sidebar content to be visible. I'll keep that in mind.

that would be awesome, i think an option to keep the sidebar visible or not would be an excellent addition and a great help
thanks Ryan!

Activating widgets does not work. I have added widgets to left sidebar but the default ones still show.
I want to get rid of the default 'Archives' and 'Links'. I don't want them showing.
I deleted code in sidebar.php that removed Archives, but can't find the Links code to delete.

Activate in the right sidebar too. There are three widget-ready locations.

So once I place widgets or remove the coding, how do I center the text in the middle of the page?
