SEO optimized is a vague term. As long as your using an SEO plugin like All-in-one-SEO, you can optimize your meta data, noindex tags and page titles however you wish. The most important thing for on-page SEO is good content.

Thanks Ryan. I agree that content it a biggie as are using SEO plugins but there are several factors that should be considered within the template itself, for example, the type of things mentioned at wpthemereview.com/seo.
I'm looking for a template to use as the basis of multiple sites so it makes sense to use one that is SEO optimised to start with. I love the flexibility of 'Flexibility, so would be an obvious choice if it adheres to the SEO rules.
Thanks, Benz1

Good reference to SEO'd themes.
I looked at one of my sites using Flexibility 2. Post titles are H1. Sidebar titles DO use H2 which they say is not good, but I think it's a MINOR point considering that the sidebar comes later than the content in the code. And that's an important point (brought up in the article) … sidebar is AFTER main body code. It means that any anchor text you use in the sidebar won't over-ride the content anchor text if you point to the same URL.
Looks like this theme passes the test almost perfectly .. theoretically it could be better not to use Hx tags in the sidebar.

Would probably be reasonably easy to change the H2 tags in the sidebar to something else and update the style sheet accordingly.
So there you go Ryan, you can add SEO friendly to the list of features!

I built it pretty SEO-friendly, but I honestly never understood why the normal convention in themes was to use the H2 tags for the sidebar titles. In the new theme I'm developing, I'm not using H2 tags for the sidebar titles, but rather H5 since it carries little to no SEO weight.
