Sorry if this is kind of a newbie question, but I can't figure out how to have just one post on the front page – the one I have marked as “sticky.”  Already tried changing settings>reading>show only 1 post – didn't work.  Is there another way?

Let me add more to this.  I have the post I want shown ass "sticky" – that is fine – it stays front page at the top.  When I check that I only want 1 post displayed per page it shows the newest post under the sticky one so that I have two posts.

Do I have to create a new page template or something to that effect?  I know, I guess upgrading to FlexSqueeze would probably solve this problem.
