Hi,

Just wanted to check. I tried adding the code found here: http://www.3stepstosearchengin…..-wordpress to my blog so that I could have a static first post, welcoming readers, followed by latest posts on my home page. However, when I add the code the sidebar and footer disappear and it doesn't work. Is it poor coding, or is the code just not compatible with the flexibility theme?

Thanks :D

Why not just use a sticky post?  It will show up first on your home page and the rest of your posts will show underneath.  In your 'visibiilty' options for your welcome post, just click "Stick this post to the front page".

Cool, thanks. I wasn't aware of that setting. I've also tried adding subcategories to a catogery and clicked "show heirachy" but the sub-catogeries appear in the same way as parent categories and arn't indented at all. Anyway around this?

The sub-categories should be indented. Are you using the categories widget instead of the default categories that are shown be default?

Erm… I just added the categories widget to the sidebar and then made some new categories. Then for the subcategories, I created categories as normal, selecting the "category parent" as required.

Stupid question here. I tried deactivating the category order plugin I have but it hasn't helped. The plugin can't have any effect once deactivated right?

It shouldn't.  If you want to send me you URL, I can take a look at your code to see why they aren't indenting.

In your post add/edit pages, in the top right sidebar, you have the option to make the post a 'sticky post'.  When you click that option, the post will show before the other posts on your home page.
