Hi Ryan,

A member of another forum put me on to Flexibility. It looks great!…until I try to install it on my site.

Then it's nothing but a blank white background with odd looking text and ads scattered around.

I must be missing some file. I've tried reinstalling. No luck. Can you suggest something?

Thanks!

Double check the file structure of your theme installation.  Should be themes/flexibility2.  The stylesheet isn't linking, and it's usually due to having an extra folder in the install.  If that's not the problem, you can post your url or email me your WP login info and I can take a look.

Hey Ryan,

I'm having trouble previewing flexibility2 theme. I've checked the file structure which is /wp-content/themes/flexibility2 and I've checked the CHMOD settings and both are OK. All folders are set to 755 and all files are set at 644. I've installed this on a test blog that I use and it worked fine. Now I'm just transferring the same files to my main blog and when I go to preview it there is no formatting. It looks like the stylesheet isn't linking.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'd need a URL to take a look.  Did you check your server's error log for any clues?

Hey Ryan,

I checked my server's log and didn't see anything useful.

I can't give you an URL because my blog isn't live. This is an old blog that I want to change the theme on so I don't want to make it live until it's working right. I did make it live for a few minutes so I could look at the source code. I compared it to my test blog and as far as I could tell they were the same. Obviously there's some difference somewhere because one works and the other doesn't.

It's just not pulling in the style.css to get it's formatting. It's driving me mad because it's such a nice theme and I really want to use it and eventually upgrade to Flexsqueeze.

As a last resort I suppose I could take my working test blog and restore my backup files from my main blog to it and make that my main blog. I don't even know if I can do that but I imagine where there's a will there's a way.

I'll wait for another reply from you before I do anything drastic.

I sent you a PM yesterday. Don't know if you got it.

Jeff Sargent

Hey Ryan,

I finally found the stupid problem with my blog. I found one folder out of all my folders on my website where the CHMOD settings  set to 777 instead of 755. I know I changed it before but it didn't save. I actually had to change it about 20 times before it held the settings to 755. Wierd. Confused

You can check it out if you like by clicking the link in my signature. I still got some tinkering around with it but at least it's at a workable point.

Thanks for your help,
Jeff Sargent

Yup, you can't use 777 on all folders/files and expect it to work.  If the server sees 777 on certain folders, it will throw an error until you back it down.
